Audio Tools
Our Philosophy
We strive to provide feature-rich equipment at a competitive price, with an emphasis on superior sound quality. Our design philosophy is to capture a full frequency picture of the incoming signal, and allow users to shape tone using provided controls. Hammock Hill Audio Tools products have been described as possessing a high fidelity frequency response and full, rich color.
The Audio Tools wing of Hammock Hill Studio was launched as a response to a pro audio market that prioritizes profits over performance, skimping on feature sets to increase margins. We find it increasingly puzzling that certain modern market offerings simply reproduce known designs without adding new features or innovations. Rather than attempting to reproduce the sound of existing well-known equipment, we strive to assemble unique combinations of features and sound characteristics to provide engineers and artists with new tools that help them turn their creative vision into reality.
The Story
At the age of 19, young audiophile Lambert Schaelicke built his own power amplifier for his home Hi-Fi listening system, completely from scratch and incorporating original design ideas. This same amplifier would remain in use throughout Indri's childhood, acting as a conduit for nurturing his deeply engrained love for music. When Indri turned 19, the two set out on the same project, building another power amp featuring modern innovations, such as Bluetooth transmitting and receiving capabilities. Amazed at the rewarding nature of analog circuit design and assembly, as well as the budding of his engineering career, the completion of this project inspired Indri to explore microphone preamplifier design.
Through previous years of recording experience, Indri learned the sonic characteristics that make renowned preamps, EQs, and compressors beloved. Elements of these classic circuits formed a basis for our first design, reflected in the discrete opamp and transformer found in the PreQ22. After successfully building the first prototype, dubbed the PreQ, Indri began employing it on recording sessions. Other engineers would jokingly mention that if they had their own, they would use it too. So Indri and Lambert set out to serialize production of the preamp, launching the first production run in 2022.
We continue to explore new ideas, combining feature sets into unique packages. We eagerly look to the future of analog circuit design, using components and design techniques that go beyond the previous generation of greatest hits. Each of our designs is crafted with the intention of maximizing sonic quality, while equipping you with all the relevant functions you need to make great music shine.
The PreQ22 is an analog Mic Preamp with High Pass Filter and 2 bands of parametric EQ for the 500 series format. It was designed with the modern producer/engineer in mind, featuring an efficient work flow that lets you shape tone quickly and with confidence. Users can dial in a clean, transparent sound at low gain or dig into the discrete opamp and output transformer for a more colored tone. The high pass filter helps clean up unwanted low end frequencies, and the 2 band parametric EQ is easy to operate for musical frequency adjustments. The output stage includes a fader for attenuating the output signal to avoid clipping your A/D converters.

The L.O.G is a powerful Mic Preamp loaded with features to help you get the most out of your mics- whether vintage ribbon, low output dynamic, or classic condenser. It is packed with up to 86dB of gain, making it suitable for use with a variety of sources. It also includes an impedance switch, allowing you to improve the impedance match between the input circuitry and your mic to maximize signal fidelity. The L.O.G provides an optional variable high pass filter to cut pesky low frequencies, before the signal is passed onto the Turbo. This optional stage adds 20dB of gain to boost up quiet signals or enable creative distortion possibilities. The output circuitry uses a MOSFET to drive an air gapped transformer, generating pleasant 2nd order harmonics. Finally, the Tap control allows you to select between transformer windings for alternative tone options.
